Sourav Ganguly turns 39
Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly turns 39 today. Dada, as he is famously called, is considered to be one of the finest and the most courageous captains the game has ever produced.
Cricket experts and all his beloved fans believe that Sourav Ganguly was the one who laid the foundation for the Men in Blue army which ultimately went on to win the ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Dada has been the controversies’ favourite child and has seen a lot of ups and downs in his cricketing career. Not to forget, he was the one who injected the winning habit in the team and led the Indian side from the front. From being the most successful Indian captain to being dethroned from captaincy and being left out from the team in no time, Dada has faced it all. The infamous ‘battle’ between Sourav Ganguly and former Indian coach Greg Chappell will always haunt people as one of the darkest phases of Indian cricket.
But what makes Sourav Ganguly special is his rock-solid determination and never-say-die attitude. He has proved time and again that you just can’t write him off. Even in this year IPL’s edition, after being spurned at the auction initially and then finally being picked up by Sahara Pune Warriors, Dada played a match-winning comeback knock and silenced his critics.
Well, call him the lord of the off side or the Bengal tiger, for Sourav Ganguly, age is just a number.
We at ApunKaChoice wish the inspirational cricketer a very happy birthday.
