The Indian Motorcycle Company was a dominant American motorcycle manufacturer. The company started in 1901 under the name of The Hendee Manufacturing Company, and at one point becoming one of the world’s bestselling motorcycle companies.
When the 1926 Indian Prince motorcycle was built, the company was on a high. The slogan used to promote the Indian Prince was ‘You can learn to ride it in 5 minutes’! The 1926 Indian Prince boasted a 3 speed transmission, which was pretty common for this time. With its manageable 265-pound curb weight and 21-cubic-inch flat- head single, the Prince made an ideal first motorcycle.
