The film is scheduled for a Diwali release and will go on floors next June. It has Salman teaming up once again with the director who launched him

You read it here on December 14, 2011, that Salman Khan had got back with Sooraj Barjatya, director of Maine Pyaar Kiya, the film that launched him. The actor had officially signed Barjatya's next, marking his return as Prem, the quintessential romantic hero.

While the film, an out-and-out Rajshri-style romance, was originally slated to go on floors this month, shooting will now start in June next year and it will hit theatres during Diwali in 2015.

Yesterday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Xclusiv: Just been informed by Rajshri, @ BeingSalmanKhan - Sooraj Barjatya film will release in Diwali 2015. Shooting starts in June 2014."

This comes as a breath of fresh air for Salman fans, who've seen him in one too many action films and are eager to watch him return to his romantic roots.

Salman and Barjatya go back a long way. Not only did the filmmaker launch Salman, he also made one of the highest grossing films of all time with the actor - Hum Aapke Hain Koun.

According to sources, the duo would sit and discuss ideas at Bandra Bandstand even before the release of their first project. It was only during the making of Hum Saath Saath Hain that the friends drifted apart. While Barjatya went on to make Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003) and Vivaah (2006) sans Salman, neither left a mark at the BO.

Thereafter, he started sending feelers to his old friend about joining hands once again. Salman too wanted to take a break from his action hero image. Things fell into place and Barjatya decided to make a sweet, romantic film with his 'Prem' again...

We hear Salman is also doing a cameo in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri's O Teri.
