Mon, Mar 23, 2009
He may have kept a safe distance from politics all these years, but now superstar Amitabh Bachchan is set to act in director Prakash Jha’s political thriller.
Jha, who is presently shooting Rajniti in Bhopal, has been in talks with Mr. Bachchan for a long time to make a movie on the subject of reservation in jobs and education. Now, at last the two are set to work together since the Big B has found spare dates, beginning next year when the film will be shot.
Tentatively titled ‘Aarakshan’, the film will be set in the late 1970s and early 80s when the issue of reservation became a raging controversy and youths in cities took the streets to protest against it. It’s not yet clear if Mr. Bachchan would play a politician in the film, but it’s obvious that the film has a political theme and tenor.
Prakash Jha wants to shoot the film in Bhopal and is learnt to have convinced Mr. Bachchan as well to shoot in the city.
The movie will be produced by Firoz Nadiadwala .
