Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne Khan are lending their support to an AIDS awareness campaign.
On Tuesday, the celebrity couple attended the 26th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, which was organised by Parmeshwar Godrej's Heroes Project and the Mumbai District AIDS Control Society in Mumbai. Among the other noted personalities present at the event were actor-director Nandita Das and actor-director-singer Farhan Akhtar .
The slogan of the event was "Together we are the solution" and Hrithik took the pledge to show his solidarity with people living with HIV/AIDS.
Speaking to a news channel, Hrithik said the campaign is not just aimed at HIV infected people but at common people.
“We are not doing this only for HIV infected people. We are doing this for you and me. AIDS is not something that happening to other people but it is happening to us,” Hrithik told the channel.
The star’s wife said that celebrities and prominent people must do something for the cause.
“I think it is important for prominent people to do something for human value,” Suzanne said.
“We are here to protect our children and our people. If something from our side can make a difference, we both would like to speak about it,” she added.
