A confident actress who’s made her own little niche with the two movies that she’s done so far, Sonam Kapoor still struggles with a fear – her stage fright.

By her own admission, she goes blank every time she steps on stage and faces a huge crowd of people. But now, Sonam has no other options but to face her fears. For she’s consented to perform on stage at this year’s International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) in Macau.

In fact, when Sonam was first approached to perform on stage, she was indecisive. It was Abhishek Bachchan , her Delhi 6 co-star, who encouraged her to go ahead and take the challenge of performing on stage.

Sonam, who has never before performed on stage, is now determined to overcome her fears for her solo performance at IIFA 2009. She will reportedly perform to songs from her two films Saawariya and ‘Delhi 6’.

IIFA has seen debut stage performances from other Bollywood stars in the past. Way back in 2001, Hrithik Roshan did his first international performance at IIFA in Sun City. In 2005, Abhishek Bachchan made his dance debut on stage at IIFA Amsterdam. Just last year, we saw Hurman Baweja giving a scintillating stage performance at IIFA in Thailand.

This year, Sonam promises to be the scene stealer on the IIFA night in Macau. But she has to battle with her fears first.
