John Abraham's dostana with Karan Johar continues
John and Karan Johar’s dostana continues. No, we are not talking about the sequel of the gay comedy, but another project starring Kajol and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles.
Karan Johar has pulled off another casting coup by roping in John Abraham to play the character of Luke in the Hindi remake of Hollywood film ‘Stepmom’. Given the film’s serious subject, John will most likely shed tears, instead of clothes for this flick. Sorry gals!
According to reports, Saif Ali Khan was the first choice for this intense character. But it’s learnt that Saif wasn’t enthused about the role because he thought audiences would not like him play the husband of both Kareena and Kajol. Karan, however, wanted a young actor for the movie and thus zeroed in on John with whom he has worked in productions like Kaal and Dostana . This time, too, Karan won’t direct but only produce the film. Siddharth Malhotra, the grandson of Prem Nath, will direct.
The film can also put an end to the differences between Kareena and John, which started when Kareena called John ‘expressionless’ on Karan’s show Koffee with Karan. And John retaliated by using the term ‘over expressive’ for Kareena on the show later.
With John’s inclusion in Johar’s production, the speculation about Shahrukh Khan playing the lead has also come to an end.
‘Stepmom’ had stout performances by actresses Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon. Let’s hope that Kareena and Kajol are able to rekindle the intricacies of human relationship with the same sensitivity and sensibility.
