Bangalore: India defeated New Zealand by five wickets in the second Test in Bangalore to win the two-Test series 2-0, with Man-of-the-Match Virat Kohli the architect of victory on day four with an unbeaten 51 to follow his first-innings century. Chasing 261, India were tottering at 166 for 5 at one stage but Kohli and MS Dhoni compiled an unbeaten partnership of 96, the highest successful run-chase in the fourth innings by any team at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and the fifth highest successful run-chase in fourth innings by India.
Earlier on day four, India bowled out New Zealand for 248 in the morning after the last-wicket pair of Jeetan Patel and Trent Boult added some vital runs. Resuming at 232 for 9, Patel reeled off a couple of boundaries before a short ball from Zaheer Khan went past the outside edge of his bat and was given out by umpire Ian Gould.
