Mumbai, Oct 21 Veteran filmmaker, screenwriter and film producer Yash Chopra passed away at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital Sunday, a hospital spokesperson said. He was 80. Yash Chopra was admitted to the hospital on October 13 after he was diagnosed with dengue.
Known for making some of the best love stories and action dramas, Mr. Chopra had been busy shooting for his last directorial movie “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
He had been suffering from complications of dengue for a long time. He suffered from multi organ failure, because of which he died, a hospital source said.
He was born in Lahore on September 27, 1932. He began his career as an assistant director to I.S. Johar and his elder brother, B.R. Chopra.
Yash Chopra is survived by his wife Pamela and two sons Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra.
