The new show from the house of Eagle Telefilms stable, “Jeannie Aur Juju” is soon going to hit the television screens. It has an interesting ensemble of star cast, all experienced and veterans in their field like, Ali Asgar, Giaa Maanek, Shoma Anand, Ashiesh Roy and Munni Jha.
But one actor needs a special mention here, not only talented, but extremely versatile in the field of television industry and ad world. She is Jhumma Mitra, TV and theatre artist, who is essaying an all important role in “Jeannie Aur Juju”.
Jhumma Mitra is a veteran of many serials like, “Hari Mirch Lal Mirch”, “Apne Paraye”, “Alladin”, “Sai Baba” and “Jai Shri Krishna”. She has played all kinds of characters on television and stage. She has worked with, stage actor and director, Dinesh Thakur, in his various plays.
Coming back to her role in “Jeannie Aur Juju”, she enacts the role of, Durga Sen, wife of Chatur Sen, played by Ashiesh Roy. As informed earlier, Ashiesh is shown as an inquisitive neighbor of, Juju. Jhumma plays a dominating and a nagging wife, true to her name, Durga. Interactions between the husband and wife, give rise to some hilarious situations, as the Jeannie can be seen only by her husband, Chatur Sen, making her suspicious. This is her third show with Ashiesh Roy, with both of them sharing a fantastic rapport and chemistry.
Jhumma Mitra is basically from, Bengal, but has a command over Hindi and Marathi languages. Readers will be surprised to know that she can speak, Marathi better than any Maharashtrian. She considers herself a complete Mumbaite. The new show gives her the chance to polish her mother tongue, Bangla, as she is playing a Bengali character.
