Life for Mukundi and Indu was going on a smooth track, except for one hitch, Phoolmati. Before you get any wrong ideas, Phoolmati is not any woman, but the family cow, belonging to Indu’s father. As the viewer’s have seen on “Lapataganj”, as to how the village is reeling under milk scarcity, Indu decides to find the solution for the same.
She decides to borrow the cow, Phoolmati, from her father for the time being. However this action of hers does not go down well with her husband, Mukundi. He feels that she has diverted her attention more towards the cow rather than him. He feels ignored and jealous of the situation.
Mukundi decides to get rid of the animal and calls up Indu’s father to take away the cow. This will create a rift between the couple and will result in huge fights between them. The villagers are a worried lot and to find solutions to their problems approach the village pandit for advice.
Pandit suggests re marriage of the couple with each other as the only solution for their problems. His justification being that their marriage during the first time was not conducted in proper manner.
