Small towns and rural audience is the new target segment for the serial makers. They believe that the recent years have seen an increase in the number of audience who belong to small towns. This is the main reason why they are focusing on the content that suits their preference.

Some channels like “SAB” and “Life OK” belong to the tier 2 category and broadcast the serials that reflect the true essence of a small town culture. This is why serials like “Lapataganj” and “FIR” are gaining huge popularity these days.

Sources of revenue have also shifted as the distributors see a good prospect in these smaller cities. This clearly reflects from the fact the most of the serials have now their locations in small cities like Indore, Bundelkhand and Gwalior.

It is a clear indication that the advertisers and GECs which includes the production houses don not want to miss any opportunity to capture these audience.
