Multifaceted and multi talented Vishwajeet Pradhan, who made tinsel town debut in the villainous role of Jaichand in late Feroz Khan’s movie “Yalgaar”, has come a long way in his career. He has won accolades for his negative role of SSP Brahmanand Jhakar in the serial “Maryada Lekin Kab Tak”.
The suave actor has a fan following not only in India, but also on foreign shores. He has admirers in countries like USA, Canada, Pakistan and Dubai who have liked his performance of Brahmanand. Having acted in more than 170 films, he feels that the scope of reaching wider audiences is better on small screen as there are no worries about the failure or success like the movies at the BO.
In fact, due to this reason he has cut down his silver screen assignments, concentrating more on small screen. Currently he has only two films on hand and the main reason being that there is not much scope left for a villain in Bollywood. He cites the example of decreasing significance of the villains in the movies as compared to the earlier times. There used to be author-backed roles such as Gabbar Singh or Mogambo or the roles enacted by Pran and Ajit.
According to Vishwajeet, these days even the item songs in the films are being performed by the top heroines, whereas in olden times the same were done by Helen or Bindu, who were specifically approached for the songs. Question him about the future of the villains, he says that as long as there is Rama there will be the need for Ravana.
