“Crime Patrol”, with none of the family drama, heavy makeup-ed artists, grand mansions and everything fake, has turned out to be a popular choice among the viewers. The show, a fictionalized version of true crime stories and their investigations, was at the number one position for a while. Even now, it stands affirmed as the 3rd most viewed shows on television.
So, this brings out a very important question – can a non-pretty, non-slapstick show, something that is based on reality and very different from the regular soap opera be a good option in this cut-throat competition. Seems the answer would be a YES.
This proves that the TV executives should venture into all kinds of programming, as there is space for all genres. “KBC”, “CID”, “Sach Ka Samna” are a few other shows that are found compelling, a freshness out of the regular rona-dhona. Let’s wait to see if our industry can have the courage to showcase more of such shows.
