The Rise and Fall of ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’

Rajan Shahi’s TV serial “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” on Sony TV was hailed as the next big thing and the channel banked heavily on it for raising its TRP’s. But the show which started with a huge bang in due course of time has proved to cause a huge disappointment for its makers as well as its actors and has hit rock bottom in terms of TRP’s.

The show started with Mohnish Behl and Kritika Kamra as its lead actors but somewhere along the line Mohnish who was playing the role of Dr Ashutosh was dropped and replaced by Sharad Kelkar.

The main reason for the show failing to grasp the interest of the viewers was that they felt it was too similar a concept with that of another serial “Bade Achhe Laggte Hain” on the same channel that of older man-younger woman.

Also, Mohnish quitting the show has made it slip further. In order to survive and remain in the running the serial has to fare better.

plzzzzzzzzz…they started of Ok by sticking to the original version i.e Pak drama Dhoop kinarey but then they started to throw in their own story and it digressed and today has become a complete eyesore. Also, the casting wasnt right. M bahl was bang on but kritika kamra was wrong as she wasnt the right foil to MB..they needed a much softer and sweeter looking girl to get the chemistry right .plus kritika has a very punjabi accent which ruins the show.

KK is doing the great performance as nidhi she has given her 100 percent untill MB was present on the show. Since 2 mths she has lost the enthusiasm and charm on her face, she is just dragging her self. MB N KK when togeather in a sceen there love would be expressed through eyes and there wouldn’t be requirement of dialogue.SK N KK do not compliment each other. If MB returns on the show it will give life to the show.

KK and SK really are made for each other on the show. They make a great pair. SK surely is better looking and also a better actor. His emotional scenes are highly charged and evoke strong sentiments in the viewers. I am sure viewers wait to see him on the show eagerly each day.

Undoubtly SK is a good actor but the viewers mind set is at MB performance as Dr aashoutosh which cannot be revived with any replacement. We still watch the show cause of the story line, it seems emptiness in the character of Dr aashoutosh which I think only MB could fill it up. It is useless making a request to bring back MB cause the creative team it self is not making an effort to hear the plea of the viewers. Plz do not make any show with established actor if to be replaced breaks the hearts of the fans.

Absolutely right, Vatia; no disrespect to the replacement but KTLK was MB/KK’S show all the way. Foe a fifty year old, MB looked so so sophisticated, cool and handsome. True, at times KK came across as much less polished and urban but she looked so in love and romantic. I have just finished watching episode84, on youtube again the chemistry is unbelievable.
You are also right when you say that the producer had no business taking a Bollywood veteran and then treating him so shabbily. The serial is so lifeless now though Kamleshji’s script is always good.. Miss MB an awful lot!
