There was a time when anchoring roles were reserved for only a select few but not anymore. Nowadays, in order to show off their versatility, small screen actors are donning the roles of anchors.
With a variety of reality shows airing on TV, more and more TV actors like Sandhya Mridul – ‘Big Decision’ and Kashmera Shah – ‘Steal Your Girlfriend’ are turning hosts.
So what sparked this trend? According to some actors like Karan Kundra who is currently hosting ‘Gumraah’ on Channel V, anchoring takes a lot less time and is easy to fit into their schedules. Also, an anchor is not limited to a bound script.
Others like Gaurav Khanna host of ‘Nachle Ve’ considered anchoring to be a childhood wish. Few like Sumeet Raghavan who is currently hosting ‘The Late Night Show’ already have a reality show background. For them, it’s like a return to roots. Also, hosts seem to connect better with today’s youth.
So now audiences can see their favorite soap stars in a new avatar – one which is true to their own personalities.
