It is rare for horror in Bollywood to not appear horrific in ways that the genre was never meant to be. More often than not, horror films in India rely on stock shock treatment – creaking doors, heart-pounding, background music, startling sound effects… you name it!
Here is the real thing. Stripped of all cinematic trappings, this uniquely titled horror film is so edgy, it topples you over into the abyss of the absolutely unknown, that no-man’s land where inexplicable phenomena fuel a kind of terror that cannot be wished away by switching off the camera.
This one doesn’t assuage your fears by the claim, ‘Oh well, it was just a movie.’
Scary to the core, the terror of watching a group of bright young film students’ endeavour to make a horror film turn into a living nightmare, is done with such a high level of authenticity that you end up watching the pre-determined progression of the plot with a sense of growing dread at the pit of your stomach.
The ‘found footage’ technique of presenting the horror genre as an on-the-spot live reportage of the chilling events, is effectively applied. The film has no crew and cast details to provide.
We are expected to believe that the young people we see as a film crew in the film, shot the footage of their own activities in the jungle before their lives were snuffed by unknown unseen, but definitely evil forces.
The footage is conveniently jerky, hazy and uneven. The ‘found footage’ format gives the presentation a licence to be as freewheeling in intent and as askew in its purpose as the hand-camera permits. As the characters are waylaid by unknown unseen evil, we feel the approaching footsteps of diabolic terror.
The narrative has an arresting momentum. From the time we see the happy-go-lucky team driving to the forest to the bloodcurdling pre-finale and finale occurrences, the narration gets you by your throat and squeezes it hard.
This whammy of a shiver-giver takes the horror genre down an unknown path. The fear of the unknown has seldom seemed more palpable. When we use the phrase, ‘There’s something out there’ we generally apply the sense of foreboding to a cinematic approach to terror whereby finally we know, we can go home safe in the knowledge that the supernatural exists only in cinema.
This film offers no such solace. Full credit to the footage collectors Yash and Allison for cracking the oft-abused genre of horror so effectively.

i realy dont like the so called stock shock treatment in bollywood horror movies as well as hollywood they should start making movies like older times like the evil death and all those where in one can really see the evil ..and some gore action…
This movie is remake of hollywood movie paranormal activity. Indians hollywood ka remake banana kab chorege.

Well guys ,right now I am watching this movie , i am in the scene where Simran has been controlled by the spirit . I am alone in the midnight in my hostel . Its really scary , I am confused that is this your own experience or this is your film coz it seems real to me and sometimes i think this must be an idea of an intelligent film maker. I am confused .

I wonder that you guys found this movie horror. Well it maybe for horror newbie guys because the acting is poor, direction is poor i suggest if you wanna see a real horror in handy camera genre watch “THE TUNNEL FILM” and i’m sure it will make your few upside down lolzzzzzz …

I watching this movie and right now I am alone in the house. I am at the scene where, Simran is being controlled by spirit. Before i finished i wanted to see the reviews that it is just a movie or it was real. If it is real i don’t wanna finished, after watching the climax, i may not be able to sleep alone in the house.
Hello every one I watched this move I can say that I never seen before this type of horror movie not even in hollywood this movie 100% near to reality. Great work by boys and girls with brilliant acting I was feeling very scared while watching movie although it was afternoon:)
I saw this movie its veryyyyyyyyy nice …. I think some part of this movie inspired from EVIL DEATH!!!!!!!!!…. but I believe in ghost also believe in GOD.
Please combine The Fourth Kind, The Blair Witch Project, The Last Exorcism.

movie was good but if it is real then why not we have real footage looks like some spice has been added who knows if not full footage then atleast a minute shot of real victims of photos oh yeah @ udit you are right seems like paranormal activity but we get to see more heartthrobing stuff then that movie…

Mind blowing…Very very scary…I know this is real because in 2010 I have read about these people in News Paper… Police has try lots to find other people but they are still missing… After watch this movie and know that its real I am not able to sleep well for almost week…Don’t watch Alone and W/o light especially at Night Time…

Then got to know that the story or this rather sad incident was real which has been made into a film in “found footage format”!! and Mr FAISAL, I think you havent seen the movie properly!!, all of them tried to use the cellphone but from the first day only, NETWORK was not available!! Bdw I have one question, in the last seen why the group of friends were shown again making pose for a photo which was shown earlier before the start of the horror events?? Was the local person who took the photograph responsible for all this?????????????????
There us still a question mark in my mind…. Is this movie a real footage or was the movie just a movie with actors…. If it was just a movie… Well I must say that they were all horribly good!!!! Hats off to all of them…. Alas!!!! Bollywood has made a horror movie despite it’s more or less like Paranormal Activity…. Good try
yo guys.. i was scared to death. i had to stop the movie in the last and watch liar liar for 10 minutes so as to find the courage to finish this movie.. it seemed so real.. its 4 48 in the morning and i’m wondering how to sleep.. great work..
